About the Role:
Heart Teaching is looking for a passionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a school in Dartford . Key Responsibilities:
Support students with a variety of special educational needs, including physical disabilities, learning difficulties, and communication barriers
.
Provide one-on-one or small group support in both classroom and outdoor settings
.
Assist with personal care needs such as toileting, feeding, and mobility, where required
.
Help implement individualized education plans (IEPs), working closely with teachers and other professionals to meet each student’s unique needs
.
Encourage and foster independence in students, promoting self-confidence and positive behaviors
.
Provide support with communication needs, using techniques such as sign language or visual aids
.
Monitor and track students’ progress, keeping records of achievements and providing feedback to teachers
.
Collaborate with staff, parents, and external professionals to ensure each child’s needs are met and to improve learning outcomes
.
Support the classroom teacher with behavior management and ensuring a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment
.
Requirements:
Experience working with children with special educational needs (SEN), either in an educational or care setting
.
Strong communication skills and the ability to engage students with varied learning needs
.
Patience, empathy, and understanding, with a passion for helping students overcome challenges
.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
.
A flexible and proactive approach, able to adapt to the individual needs of students
.
Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to apply for one)
.
Experience working with specific SEN types (e.g. ASD, ADHD, physical disabilities) is a plus, but not essential
.
