Role Description

This is a full-time in Sevenoaks for the Head of Department – English position. The Head of Department will be responsible for overseeing the English department within this lovely SEN school, teaching English, developing curriculum, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality education. Daily tasks include planning lessons, assessing student progress, providing feedback, and collaborating with other staff members to maintain and improve the educational standards of the department.

Key Responsibilities:

🔹 Plan and deliver dynamic and engaging lessons tailored for Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 students.
🔹 Differentiate lessons to meet the diverse learning needs and foster success at all levels 🌱.
🔹 Assess students’ progress and provide constructive feedback to drive improvement and success.
🔹 Encourage critical thinking and creativity through real-world applications and engaging activities 💡.
🔹 Collaborate with colleagues to innovate and improve teaching resources and strategies 📚.
🔹 Foster a growth mindset, helping students build confidence and a love for English.
🔹 Ensure a safe, motivating, and inclusive learning environment for all students 🏫.
🔹 Participate in school-wide initiatives to contribute to curriculum and policy development.

What We’re Looking For:

✔️ Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification 👩‍🏫.
✔️ Strong understanding of the English  curriculum and the ability to create stimulating, differentiated lesson plans.
✔️ Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage with students, staff, and parents effectively.
✔️ A passion for English and a commitment to inspiring students to achieve their best 🔥.
✔️ Strong classroom management and the ability to create a positive learning environment 🌟.
✔️ Ability to manage and organise the English department( 🔐.
