💼 About the Role:

Heart Teaching is seeking compassionate and committed Student Support Assistants (SSA) to join a highly regarded SEN school in Westerham this September. This is a deeply rewarding opportunity to support children and young people aged 4–19 with physical disabilities, complex medical needs, and learning difficulties.

As an SSA, you’ll help create a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment where every student can learn, grow, and thrive—both academically and personally. 🌈

You’ll work closely with teachers, therapists, and care professionals to provide tailored support in both classroom and residential settings.

🧠 Key Responsibilities:

• Support students in academic and care settings to promote physical, social, and emotional development

• Assist with personal care, including toileting and mealtime support, with dignity and respect

• Implement individualised care and learning plans to foster independence

• Use safe moving and handling techniques as trained

• Monitor student wellbeing and report any safeguarding concerns

• Use AAC systems (e.g., visual aids, communication tech) to support non-verbal learners

• Work with therapy and medical teams to deliver consistent, specialist care

• Maintain accurate records and follow safeguarding/reporting procedures

✅ What We’re Looking For:

• Experience supporting young people with SEN and/or medical needs (desirable)

• Physically able to assist students with mobility and personal care

• Strong communication and teamwork skills

• A positive, nurturing, and resilient attitude

• Commitment to upholding professional boundaries and safeguarding standards

• Respect for diversity and a commitment to British values

📋 Requirements:

• Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)

• Right to work in the UK

• Two references covering the last 2 years

• Willingness to complete Heart Teaching’s safeguarding vetting process
