Salary: £12.80 to £13.80 per hour (dependent on qualifications and experience)

About the Role:
Heart Teaching is currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will work closely with teaching staff to support students with profound, severe, and complex needs, including those on the Autistic Spectrum. This is an exciting opportunity for a proactive and empathetic individual who is passionate about making a positive impact in the lives of students with diverse learning needs.
Key Responsibilities:
✅ Provide one-on-one or small group support to students with special educational needs, both inside and outside the classroom.
✅ Adapt teaching materials and resources to accommodate various learning styles and abilities.
✅ Assist students with their personal care needs, if required, ensuring dignity and respect at all times.
✅ Monitor and record students’ progress, providing regular feedback to teachers and parents/guardians.
✅ Collaborate with the school’s SEN Coordinator and other professionals, such as speech and language therapists and occupational therapists, to implement specific strategies and interventions.
✅ Promote a positive and inclusive learning environment, encouraging social and emotional well-being for all students.
✅ Support and encourage student independence and self-confidence through targeted support.
✅ Assist in managing behavior and implement behavior management strategies as directed by the teacher and school policies.
✅ Attend relevant training sessions and professional development opportunities to enhance your knowledge and skills in supporting students with special educational needs.
What We’re Looking For:
✔️ Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with students, teachers, and parents/guardians.
✔️ Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to support students with diverse learning needs.
✔️ Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
✔️ Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
✔️ Previous experience supporting students with SEN (desirable but not essential).
✔️ Right to Work in the UK.
✔️ Enhanced DBS certificate on the update service (or willingness to apply for one).
✔️ Ability to provide two references within the last 2 years.
