About the Role:
Heart Teaching are working with a specialist school in the Kent area that is looking for an experienced Occupational Therapist (Band 6) to join their dynamic team. The successful candidate will provide specialist occupational therapy services to children and young people with profound, severe, and complex needs, many of whom are on the Autistic Spectrum.
This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate and skilled Occupational Therapist to work in a supportive multidisciplinary team and make a real impact in the lives of children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
✅ Providing assessment and intervention for children and young people with complex needs, including sensory processing difficulties, motor coordination difficulties, and fine motor skills challenges.
✅ Offering specialist advice and training to school staff, parents, and other professionals involved in the care of the children and young people.
✅ Developing and implementing individualised occupational therapy programmes for each child and young person.
✅ Collaborating closely with a multidisciplinary team, including speech and language therapists, physiotherapists, and teachers, to ensure holistic care for students.
✅ Contributing to the development of policies and procedures within the school.
✅ Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of all assessments, interventions, and progress.
Requirements:
✔️ Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy.
✔️ HCPC registration (Health and Care Professions Council).
✔️ Significant experience working with children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities.
✔️ Experience in a school or educational setting (desirable).
✔️ Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
✔️ Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
✔️ Full driving license and access to a car (required for travel).
