About the Role:

Heart Teaching is looking for a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join a specialized school in Gravesend. In this role, you’ll be working closely with a team of professionals, including teachers, therapists, and other specialists, to support the educational and personal development of students with PMLD. 💫

Key Responsibilities:

✅ Assist in implementing Individualized Education Health Care Plans (IEHCPs) for students with PMLD.
✅ Provide personal care and support for students with physical disabilities, ensuring their safety and dignity at all times 👶.
✅ Support students with communication difficulties using AAC systems like visual aids, symbols, and technology 💬.
✅ Adapt teaching materials to meet the diverse needs of students with PMLD 📚.
✅ Assist with daily living skills such as mealtime support, personal care, and mobility 🚶‍♂️.
✅ Promote independence and social integration, helping students form meaningful relationships and interact with their peers 🤝.
✅ Track and record progress, behaviors, and achievements, providing regular updates to teaching staff 📊.
✅ Collaborate with therapists and healthcare professionals to deliver specialized interventions and therapy programs 🩺.
✅ Maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment, promptly addressing any safeguarding concerns 🔐.

What We’re Looking For:

✔️ Experience working with individuals with PMLD is highly desirable 🌟.
✔️ Knowledge of teaching strategies and interventions for students with complex learning needs 🧠.
✔️ Patience, empathy, and the ability to build rapport with students 💖.

Requirements:

📚 Experience working with PMLD is highly desirable.
📝 Ability to implement and adapt IEHCPs effectively.
💬 Strong communication skills to support students’ learning and well-being.
✔️ Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to apply for one).
🌍 Right to Work in the UK.
🔍 Ability to undergo Vigurs vetting process to meet safeguarding standards.
