Job Description:
Heart Teaching is proud to support a fantastic SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) school in Tonbridge Wells, Kent, in their search for a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant. This special school provides a nurturing environment for children and young people aged 7 to 19 who need additional support managing their social, emotional, and mental health needs đź’–.

Key Responsibilities:
🔹 Support the class teacher in delivering lessons and implementing individual education plans (IEPs)
🔹 Provide pastoral care to students, focusing on their social and emotional well-being
🔹 Build positive relationships with students to enhance their self-esteem and confidence
🔹 Assist with lesson planning and create a stimulating learning environment 🌱
🔹 Offer feedback on student progress to teachers and other team members 📊
🔹 Attend meetings and training sessions as part of ongoing development
🔹 Support behavior management strategies to maintain a positive classroom atmosphere 🛠️
🔹 Collaborate with staff, parents, and external agencies to support student development 🤝
Qualifications:
✔️ GCSEs in Maths and English (or equivalent)
✔️ Level 2 or 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning (desirable but not essential)
✔️ Experience in SEMH schools or alternative provisions (desirable but not essential)
✔️ A positive, enthusiastic attitude towards working with children 🌟
✔️ Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written 🗣️
✔️ Commitment to supporting the learning and development of students 💡
