About the Role:

Heart Teaching is looking for a passionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a friendly and supportive special school in Longfield, Kent. The school caters for children and young people aged 4–19 with profound, severe, and complex needs, including many students on the Autistic Spectrum.

In this rewarding role, you will work 1:1 or 2:1 with pupils to provide tailored support, helping them access the curriculum and develop key life skills in a safe, structured, and nurturing environment. 🧩💛

You’ll work closely with teachers and SEN professionals to adapt learning to meet each child’s unique needs and ensure they feel supported, included, and ready to thrive. 🤝

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide 1:1 and 2:1 support for pupils with Autism and complex needs 🌱

• Adapt and differentiate classroom activities for SEN learners 🧠

• Promote emotional, social, and academic development in a structured setting 🎓

• Collaborate with SENCOs, therapists, and support staff to implement personalised strategies 👩‍🏫

• Support students during learning and structured play activities 🧩

• Contribute to a calm and inclusive classroom environment 🌈

• Follow safeguarding and behaviour support protocols 🛡️

What We’re Looking For:

• Experience supporting children with special educational needs (SEN), particularly Autism 👦👧

• Strong behaviour management and teamwork skills 🤝

• Calm, caring, and patient attitude 🌸

• Resilient, committed, and enthusiastic approach 💪

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills 💬

• A willingness to undertake training and grow professionally 📚

Requirements:

• Enhanced DBS certificate (or willingness to apply) 🛂

• Right to work in the UK 🏠

• Two recent professional references 📄

• Completion of safeguarding vetting process ✅
